On sunday 23rd of march, team mates (past and present) of Mark Attwood
met at Centymca Sports Ground to play in his Farewell Testimonal and
to wish him good luck for his new life in Melbourne, Australia.
A great afternoon was had by all.
Dave Bagge scored 2 first half goals for the Lombardo XI against the run of play, with Ted Davies
pegging one back for Attwood Allstars just before the break.
Early in the second half, the Allstars took the lead with goals from Simon Hunter and
Andrew Langston, then with 10 minutes to go they were awarded a penalty after Mick Sweeney and
Nick Garrett sandwiched Ted Davies.
Considering this was his big day, there was only man who could take the kick.
So Lom swapped shirts with Richey Fernandez, placed the ball on the spot and after a great deal of heckling,
promptly put it wide!
The game then looked like it had no more goals in it as everyone seemed to be feeling the effect of the
the heat, but with 30 seconds left on the clock, Nick Garrett swapped his blue shirt for a red one,
fooled the Allstars deffence and smashed the ball into the goal....
What a Cheat!!!
